Welcome to My New Home!

You guys. This is so long overdue that I feel like a dinosaur just launching a new website and blog now, but hey, it’s done! I hope you’ll take some time to look around and make yourself at home. As I said on my “About” page, I want this to be a place that feels warm and inviting, a place that brings value to you, and a place where you can feel free to interact with me and with other readers.

A couple of things I want you to know.

First, if you’ve been going to shellywildman.net for a while, you might want to reset your bookmarks to this place (www.shellywildman.com). Hopefully if you go to the old place, you’ll be redirected here, but let’s be honest, I’m no tech person and I may have gotten that part all wrong.

Second, as I just implied, I decided to go with a self-hosted website, which means that I am indeed the ruler of my own domain. Ha! But this was not a one-woman job. My dear daughter, Kate, who is pretty much perfect at everything she sets her mind to and who is amazingly proficient at tech stuff like this, helped me set this up. I’m sure I’ll be calling her for help every now and then.

Third, along with this new website will come a new newsletter. I’m only going to send it out if you want to get it, and only about once a month, so be sure to sign up for that at the link at the bottom of the page. My newsletter will give you tidbits of information that you won’t see here—things like what I’m reading, where I’m traveling, and maybe a recipe that I’ve tried. Just fun stuff. So join me there, too, will you?

Finally, I have to be completely honest here and say that there is a bit of discomfort for me in launching this site. Yes, I need it to be taken seriously as an author, but it just feels so . . . I don’t know . . . Shelly! Shelly! Shelly! And that’s not what I want to be about. It’s going to take some getting used to for me, and probably for you too.

Welcome to my new space. I’d love to hear from you, so feel free to leave a comment. I’ll be talking to you again next week.
